THE WORKSHOP
About this class
If you have made the Maloof/Taylor Style Rocker you are a leg up on this project. We will use the table saw jig to shape the seat and the Kutzall grinders as well. This is a 7 day project and although it is a new class I believe I have allowed sufficient time for each student to take home a completed chair. Make one chair in our class, complete with all the joints and assemble, glued together.
- Sculpture by carving with grinders and rasps
- Table saw jig
- Kutzall grinders
- Random orbital sander
- Rotary shapers
- Oscillating spindle sander
- Your Choice: The wood you choose should meet certain standards of suitability for this project. Some wood species are not recommended because they lack density and strength.
- The signature wood for a Maloof inspired chair is walnut, but most hardwood can be used.
